“This cinema magazine asked me to portray its main feature, a series of articles about directors’ relationships with the cities in which they are filming. All of the directors were very passionate and saying things like ‘the soul of the city,’ ‘one with the city,’ ‘the energy of the city is life!’ and ‘the city is a reflection of the human soul,’ which led me to feel this had to be a portrait of a passionate love affair.”
