“To reflect Martin Bechtold’s lecture on different unit-based systems in architecture and engineering, I based my poster design on the repetition of two units—a plus sign and a square—in a pattern. I then created another level of contrast between the units: the squares spelled out MATERIAL SYSTEMS, and the plus signs formed negative space, giving a double reading to the poster.” 16½ × 23, 2-color.
