Education: BFA with honors from the Maryland Institute, College of Art, where I majored in illustration.
Cultural Influences: Photographs from the '20s and '40s, Audrey Hepburn, Brazil and Delicatessen among too many other movies, carnies, Art Nouveau, Egon Schiele, Edward Gorey, anything vintage, Bessie Smith, The Clash, Kerouac and Ginsberg, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Tennessee Williams and Alabama (where I grew up, but no longer have the accent to prove it).
Environment: A tiny apartment a block from South Street with tons of books and DVDs at my fingertips. My beloved iMac and Remington Monarch typewriter and an artist boyfriend who offers advice.
Philosophy: Try to keep things simple, yet interesting (this works for my life as well as art). Make sure that I'm proud of whatever I'm creating because it will have my name on it, and always meet deadlines.
