“Beauty brand Glean is on a mission to combat colorism and anti-Black bias in the skincare industry, and we wanted to reflect this in the brand photography and messaging. The packaging pops in a sea of subtlety, balancing radiant colorways with a silky smooth matte finish, and from the mailer box to the packaging and print inserts, the system is full of loving copy. Glean’s founders wanted to pay homage to the farmers, traditions and native plants of their ancestral Somaliland, so the brand’s luminous color palette centers on the bright green of the qasil leaf, Glean’s signature ingredient.”
