"This piece was done for self promotion. It also won a silver medal from the Society of Illustrators. I consider this a very straight forward portrait study. I've always had mixed feelings about Edward Hopper and his work. But it's his face that got me to do this piece. That and the rumors surrounding him and his wife...that there was domestic violence. I deliberately chose the intense red hue of the background to illustrate that point. The house in the background comes from one of his paintings." 12 x 16.
