Since there's already strong brand equity in the name MTV2, we wanted to better differentiate the channel by not using the MTV logo. Plus, what appeals better to boys than something weird? This feral creature defines the untamed nature of MTV2 while crossing all music genres, from hip-hop to metal. And since it's so outlandishly different from anything that was on-air, it was designed to function purely as a symbol and without the MTV logo.
