“We were going for something really natural and accessible for this New York magazine cover image of actress Elisabeth Moss. For inspiration, photo editor Jody Quon showed me a portrait of Winona Ryder from a Rolling Stone published in the 1980s. Elisabeth is so fun, warm and effusive—she doesn’t feel anything like her character in Mad Men. I fell in love with her. She is a great collaborator and really trusting. We were having so much fun during the shoot, she accidently flashed a family getting out of the elevator.”
