“This is the cover illustration for a book of short stories in which all the protagonists are from Barbados but live in Canada. In the book, the short stories are an unpublished manuscript of an author who's just passed away, evoked through the empty chair, as death is present throughout the stories. I wanted this piece to reflect the sharp contrast between Barbados and Canada and how we carry our culture inside ourselves.”
