"A one-second exposure conveyed the fluidity of the surging white water that contrasted well with the solidity of the seemingly immovable framework of the platform. During my first night out on the platform, I was dismayed to see the water in the toilet swaying back and forth. The next morning I was reassured to find out that oil drilling and production platforms, like all large structures are made to sway a good bit under the force of wind or water. This area of the Pacific is susceptible to rogue waves; we had a designated wave watcher as we worked."
