Background: As part of Montreal’s 375th, the Quartier des spectacles has transformed urban strolling with an extensive and interactive public art pathway into KM3, “kilometre cube.” The site’s main purpose is to give a virtual taste of the KM3 experiences, drawing the public to the sites along the pathway via the web platform that acts as a rich source of information and orientation tool.
Highlights: We created an immersive experience that, instead of listing the works and different experiences in the expected way, showcases the spaces and its geographic location making it directly integrated into the original architecture. The digital platform also prominently features the colors, vitality and flexibility of the visual identity that was developed for the event.
Challenges: One of the project’s most difficult challenges was to present the different KM3 works within the same interactive map while keeping the navigation and discovery aspect clear for all users. We overcame this challenge by using a custom prototype map, allowing us to personalize the event’s highlights in a very precise way.
Favorite Details: We built an experience that works as well on a touch screen as it does on a TV, desktop, tablet or mobile screen. Though it was a requirement of the project, we are very pleased to offer a multi-platform experience that meets the needs of the public either on-site or at home.
Navigation Structure: Our priority was to position the map as the main navigational mechanism and to create a system that was unique and engaging.
